Thanksgiving

Hello Pocket Lovers!

As we ponder what outfit to wear for Thanksgiving (keeping in mind food-friendly clothing where we can stuff ourselves and still feel comfortable in!), we decided to look up some fun facts about this great holiday that celebrates all of the things that we are grateful for. Get ready for some American history and fun stats ...

  • The first Thanksgiving was celebrated in 1621 at Plymouth Rock, MA between European settlers and Wampanoag Indians.
  • In 1863, President Abraham Lincoln declared the final Thursday in November as a national day of thanksgiving
  • Congress made Thanksgiving Day an official national holiday in 1941.
  • 95% of Americans spend Thanksgiving with family.
  • Over 45 million turkeys are consumed on Thanksgiving each year.
  • Thanksgiving ranks as most American's 2nd most favorite holiday (after Christmas).
  • About 40% of Americans say turkey is their favorite Thanksgiving dish.
  • An average American consumes about 4,500 calories on Thanksgiving day.

Whoa, that's a lot of calories! Now back to pondering that perfect outfit for Thanksgiving. Maybe something with pockets, so we can hoard some cookies for later. ;)

Happy Thanksgiving Pocket Lovers!! Gobble Gobble!
